Loving Michelle Obama's Funky Necklace

Thanks for posting this. Seems Mrs. O is becoming a fashion icon, which I am sure is far away from anything she would have ever thought for herself. Of course, when the eyes of the word are on you, and you knowingly choose to wear "funky" pieces such as the one pictured above, you could certainly be considered a trendsetter.

I am with you, I always feel inspired by pieces that speak to me. I rarely ever purchase a piece simply because a celebrity is wearing it.

Inspiration may, sometimes, fall out of the blue.
But most of the times - it has more earthly origins and yes, I think that most people tend to buy celebrity look-alikes. Otherwise I don't see the need for trend-setters , early adopters etc etc.

I'm, however, with you and gold goggles here. If I like something, it's because it connects with me and not because it's already been wore by a celebrity. On the other hand, I may see some accessory that catches my attention on a celebrity.

I don't think it's the celebrity who inspires me, but the jewelry. A piece may catch my eye faster if it's splashed on a page with someone like Michelle. I just adore her too much for words - her taste and style is great. I think she's someone who has fun dressing herself and that shows. If anything, the necklace helps sell her outfit and not the other way around, which is always important.
